Michelina Ruocco is an experienced Italian researcher in the field of plant pathology and biocontrol, specializing in the study of molecular interactions between plants, pathogens, and beneficial microorganisms, particularly those interacting at the soil level. She is currently a Research Director at the Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection (CNR-IPSP), where she has been working since 2001. In 1995, she graduated with honors in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Naples Federico II and subsequently earned a PhD in Plant Pathology, as well as a specialization in Phytopathology. Her research focuses on developing biological control methods for plant diseases, with a particular emphasis on the use of the Trichoderma genus for plant protection. In recent years, her scientific interest has expanded to include the study of soil microbiomes, aiming to analyze fluctuations in biological fertility. Dr. Ruocco leads numerous national and international research projects, significantly contributing to European funding programs such as FP7, H2020, and HORIZON. Through her work, she has established important collaborations with international scientific institutions and participated in innovative projects, including the characterization of volatilomes in plant-microorganism interactions. Throughout her career, Ruocco has presented her research findings at global scientific conferences and published in international journals.
