Until June 30, you can send your abstracts. Papers will be presented at the fair in October<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">by Matteo Cavallito<\/p>\n<p>There is time until 30 June to send your research abstract under the <a href=\"https:\/\/unb.ecomondo.com\/callforpapers-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">initiative<\/a> launched by <strong>Ecomondo<\/strong>, the most important European fair for Green Economy. The papers, developed around the theme of the most innovative solutions for <strong>soil health<\/strong> and food, will be reviewed by the Technical Scientific Committee that includes experts representing Ecomondo, European Mission for Soil Health and Food, <strong>Re Soil Foundation and Coldiretti<\/strong>. Prior to the event, scheduled <a href=\"https:\/\/en.ecomondo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to take place in Rimini, Italy, from 26 to 29 October 2021<\/a>, farmers and researchers from all over Europe will be asked to present their case studies. The researches, selected by July 15, will be unveiled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecomondo.com\/eventi\/programma\/seminari-e-convegni\/e17699941\/caring-for-soil-is-caring-for-life-soil-health-policies-and-innovation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">during the meeting<\/a> <em>Caring for soil is caring for life: soil health policies and innovation<\/em> scheduled for October 28.<\/p>\n<div class='avia-iframe-wrap'>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"dpR0wyB68G\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/resoilfoundation.org\/en\/articles\/parliament-eu-soil-directive\/\">EU lawmakers call for Soil Directive<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;EU lawmakers call for Soil Directive&#8221; &#8212; Re Soil Foundation\" src=\"https:\/\/resoilfoundation.org\/en\/articles\/parliament-eu-soil-directive\/embed\/#?secret=dpR0wyB68G\" data-secret=\"dpR0wyB68G\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h5>From circular economy to forest protection<\/h5>\n<p>Many themes inspire the studies. These include the use of organic waste for <strong>compost <\/strong>production,\u00a0technological innovations for recycling and the <strong>circular economy<\/strong>. But also policies to ensure a truly sustainable food security. The list also includes forest management, digitalization and strategies to tackle pollution.<\/p>\n<p>Reserchers have to follow some crucial guidelines. Best practices and innovations implemented in partnership with research centers, for example, is one of them. Others include the ability to <strong>monitor and evaluate the results<\/strong> achieved (which is <a href=\"https:\/\/resoilfoundation.org\/en\/articles\/commission-eu-agriculture-climate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notoriously a key problem<\/a>), environmental impact and communication strategies.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C5VlDDOGuok\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h5>Mission Soil at Ecomondo<\/h5>\n<p>The event scheduled at Ecomondo will be attended by <strong>Andrea Tilche<\/strong>, consultant of the Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition, <strong>Angelo Riccaboni<\/strong>, national representative of Mission Soil Health and Food in Italy. Speakers list also includes <strong>Catia Bastioli<\/strong>, CEO of Novamont and member of the Board of Mission Soil, <strong>Marco Falzetti<\/strong>, Director of the Agency for the Promotion of European Research (APRE) and <strong>Roberto Moncalvo<\/strong>, member of the Board of Directors of Fondazione Re Soil. The event will provide an opportunity to highlight the importance of soil health as a central issue at global level.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Life on Earth depends on healthy soils. Although we pay very little attention to them,&#8221; Ecomondo promoters say. &#8220;60-70% of EU soils are unhealthy&#8221; according to estimates. While &#8220;25% of land are at high or very high risk of desertification in Southern, Central and Eastern Europe.&#8221; And the consequences are well known. &#8220;It is estimated that the costs associated with soil degradation in the EU exceed <strong>50 billion \u20ac per year<\/strong>&#8220;. That&#8217;s why &#8220;the European Commission Mission&#8217;s goal is that by 2030, <strong>at least 75% of all soils<\/strong> in each EU Member State are healthy or show significant improvement. But where is Europe at?&#8221; &#8212; Re Soil Foundation\" src=\"https:\/\/resoilfoundation.org\/en\/articles\/bioeconomy-health-soil-europe\/embed\/#?secret=Eh365xpzoA\" data-secret=\"Eh365xpzoA\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h5>Only few days left to submit the abstracts<\/h5>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/unb.ecomondo.com\/callforpapers-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a statement<\/a> by Ecomondo: &#8220;Abstracts accepted for an oral or poster presentation (acceptance will be communicated by 10 July) may become a <strong>5\/6-pages article<\/strong> (in Italian or in English) to be published in the Ecomondo conference proceedings, or in English, to be published in the peer-reviewed Procedia Environmental Science, Engineering and Management by the end of October 2021. A limited number of accepted abstracts can become full papers to be submitted to the <strong>peer-reviewed<\/strong> Environmental Engineering Management Journal (IF: 1.3) after Ecomondo 2021 to have all accepted papers out by May 2022.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ecomondo 2021 selects new proposals to protect soil health.
