Liz Chicaje Churay<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the winners of the 2021 edition<\/a> of the Goldman Prize<\/strong>, the award that recognizes the most outstanding environmental activists on the Planet. It’s a meaningful achievement for the 38-year-old member of the Bora indigenous community that lives on the edge of Yaguas<\/strong> National Park, in the northeastern region of Loreto, Peru<\/strong>, near the border with Colombia. This protected land, which was established by the government in 2018, in fact, represents the main accomplishment of a 20-year struggle to protect soil<\/strong>, wildlife and biodiversity. It’s a story of commitment, effort and threats that have been faced and ignored. But, most of all, it’s a happy ending tale.<\/p>\n
